The chandelier hangs over the dining table, an illuminated cloud containing lightning bolts and ice crystals.

Residence, Malibu, CA

There are two sets of sconces in the Malibu residence.  One set is constructed of wood framed stretched translucent fabric with gleaming glass edges.  These pieces are companion works to the “Adecula” conversation tent in the grand room following its form in modules as thought thoughts lifting from the tent.  The glass pieces appear to randomly sore throughout the space and are called “Harmoniums” reminiscent of images in a Kurt Vonigat book describing underground kite like creatures that illuminate when activated by human vibrations.  The placement of the sconces for the Malibu residence were designed and installed to take advantage of the natural light shadows that play throughout the house during the day.  The works frame and mimic the shadows.
